What is a Progressive Lawyer?

Progressive, (of a group, person, or idea) favoring, advocating or implementing social reform or new, liberal ideas. Favoring or promoting change or innovation.

What is a Progressive Lawyer?

For our purposes, we define a progressive lawyer as such:

A progressive lawyer is one who favors or advocates progress, change, improvement, or reform as opposed to wishing to maintain things as they are. They are interested in making progress toward better conditions by employing or advocating more enlightened, innovative or liberal ideas. Their primary motivation is not the purpose of making money but in representing interests that would not be otherwise properly represented in the current legal or political system.

This is what Progressive Lawyer is all about. We are a digital hub connecting lawyers and law students with socially progressive organizations and law firms active in social justice and public interest advocacy. Over the next few weeks please check in often as we rev up to launch this fall. We will update you on what we are up do, how we are doing and how we feel Progressive Lawyer will help you answer the question “why did I go to law school in the first place?”

Thank you for your time.
